About Low-E Coated Glass

Low-E coated glass features microscopically thin metallic coatings that reflect infrared energy back into your room whilst allowing visible light to pass through. Available in soft coat and hard coat variants, our sealed units incorporate this advanced coating technology in configurations from 4mm to 10mm glass thicknesses.

Our Low-E sealed units achieve U-values as low as 1.0 W/m²K when combined with argon gas fills and warm edge spacer bars. All units meet BS EN 1279 standards and deliver exceptional thermal performance, reducing heat loss by up to 30% compared to standard double glazing whilst maintaining excellent light transmission.

  • What's the difference between soft coat and hard coat Low-E glass?
    Soft coat Low-E offers superior thermal performance with U-values around 1.0 W/m²K but requires sealed unit protection. Hard coat is more durable but achieves slightly higher U-values of approximately 1.4 W/m²K.
  • What U-values can Low-E coated glass achieve?
    Our Low-E sealed units achieve U-values from 1.0-1.6 W/m²K depending on coating type, gas fill and spacer bar specification. Argon-filled units with warm edge spacers deliver the best thermal performance.
  • Can Low-E coating be applied to any glass thickness?
