Replacement door glass — sealed units that fit your existing door
Misted, cracked, or blown door glass? In most cases you only need the sealed unit — not a new door. Pane Relief supplies replacement double-glazed, triple-glazed, toughened, laminated, low-E, and acoustic units to fit front doors, back doors, French doors, patio doors, bi-folds, composite doors, and conservatory doors. Pick your door type below to see stock sizes, real prices, and lead times — or jump straight to the configurator if your size or spec is non-standard.

Measure twice, order once
If you only do one thing before ordering — measure the rebate, not the door. We need the sealed-unit dimensions, not the door panel.
The 5-step measure
- Open the door fully. Measure the visible glass width at the top, middle, and bottom — use the smallest number.
- Measure the visible glass height at the left, middle, and right — use the smallest number.
- Add 6mm to both dimensions (this is the total sealed-unit size — visible glass plus the 3mm tucked into each side of the rebate).
- Measure the overall sealed-unit thickness (the depth of the glass-sandwich) with vernier callipers or a ruler edge-on.
- Photograph the frame profile, edge of the existing unit, and any kitemark stamp on the glass. Send to us if you want a spec-match — we'll quote it back to you.
Pricing transparency
All prices shown on this collection are "From £X" — the smallest stock size at base specification (4mm-20mm-4mm argon-filled annealed). Custom sizes, toughened or laminated safety glass, low-E coatings, acoustic interlayers, or oversized panels are priced live on the configurator.
Door glass — common questions answered
Q: Is safety glass legally required for door glass?
Yes — for critical locations. Approved Document N of the Building Regulations (and BS 6262-4) mandates impact-resistant glazing in any pane that sits within 300mm of a door edge, or below 1500mm from the floor, when fitted into a door or sidelight. That means either toughened (BS EN 12150) or laminated (BS EN 14449). We supply both — the safety classification is surfaced on every door-glass product and selectable in the configurator.
Q: Can you replace just the glass on a composite door?
Yes — that's exactly what the Composite Door Insert flagship covers. We stock the four most common UK insert sizes (285×850, 285×1200, 400×1000, 600×1200) and can custom-spec anything beyond that via the configurator. Solidor, Endurance, Distinction, and Rockdoor profiles are all compatible — bring the existing unit thickness (typically 24mm or 28mm) when you order.
Q: What about leaded or Georgian-bar effect glass?
We supply the base sealed unit; the leaded-look overlay or applied bevels are added as a separate option in the configurator. Internal Georgian bars (between the glass panes) and external bevels are both supported — choose your bar layout (rectangular, diamond, fan-light) and lead-effect colour (matt black, polished lead, brass) at order.
Q: What if my door has a shaped or arched glass panel?
Shaped, arched, raked, or radius-edged panels are all supplied — send us a paper template, a cardboard cut-out, or a photo with reference measurements (a ruler in shot is ideal). Lead time on shaped units is 10-14 working days. Email trade@panerelief.co.uk with the template for a quote.
Q: Do you fit, or supply only?
Supply only — we're a manufacturer-to-doorstep glazing supplier. For fitting we recommend FENSA-registered installers in your postcode. Call the helpline on 0117 330 3057 (08:00-18:00 Mon-Fri) and we'll forward two or three local recommendations, or use the contact form for a callback.
Q: What's the warranty? What if I get the measurements wrong?
Every unit ships with a 10-year manufacturer warranty on edge-seal integrity (compliant with BS EN 1279-2 weathered durability) and a 5-year warranty on low-E and solar-control coatings. Mis-measured units are remade at cost (we charge the materials, not the labour) — but if you send us a photo and a measurement before ordering, our team will sanity-check the spec for free. UKCA, kitemark, and Declaration of Performance documentation available on request.
Q: Whole door vs just the glass — when does it make sense to replace the door?
Glass-only is the right call 60-80% of the time — it's typically 60-80% cheaper than a full door swap. If the frame is sound (no rot, no warp, no swelling), the hinges and locks are working, and the seal is the only failure, replace the glass. If the frame is twisted, the timber is rotted, the composite skin is delaminating, or the locks have failed — replace the door. Free phone diagnosis on the helpline if you're not sure: send us a couple of photos and we'll tell you straight.
Q: What's the lead time?
Stock-size door units: 5-7 working days. Custom rectangular non-stock: 7-10 working days. Shaped, arched, or oversized (any dimension >1500mm): 10-14 working days. Toughened and laminated safety specs add 2-3 working days. Emergency same-day boarding for broken glass — call the helpline immediately.
Q: Double, triple, or low-E — what's worth paying for on a door?
For a typical front or back door (around 1.5m² of glass): a standard 24mm argon-filled low-E sealed unit hits Building Regs (U-value 1.4 W/m²K), is well-priced, and is what we ship by default. Triple-glazed door units add cost and weight (heavy on the hinges) and only make sense on very large or very exposed doors. If acoustic performance matters (busy road, flightpath), step up to a laminated acoustic unit — see the acoustic glass guide.
