Made-to-measure double glazing — any rectangular size, instant configurator price

Bespoke-size sealed units, cut to the millimetre you specify, with instant pricing on the configurator. Pane Relief manufactures made-to-measure double-glazed units from 300×300mm up to 2400×1500mm in standard production, with oversized panels to 3200×1800mm on enquiry. Spec any glass build (annealed, toughened, laminated, low-E, acoustic, solar-control, obscure, Georgian-bar), any spacer thickness (12mm, 16mm, 20mm), any gas fill (argon as standard, krypton on enquiry), and any safety class your install demands. The configurator gives a live price as you type — no quote-form waiting around.

Homeowner

Non-standard window or door size

Older houses (especially Victorian, Edwardian, 1930s semis) almost never have stock-size windows. Made-to-measure is the right route if your measurement falls more than 10-15mm off a flagship stock size. Free UK mainland delivery, 7-10 working days on bespoke DG, 10-year edge-seal warranty same as stock. Send a measurement photo for free sanity-check before ordering.

Schedule of mixed bespoke sizes

For a multi-window refurb or new-build, send the glass schedule (Excel, PDF, DWG) and we'll quote inside 48 hours with unit-by-unit pricing. Net 30 terms on trade accounts, tier discount on 5+/20+/50+ unit batches, scheduled site delivery to your programme. Configurator works for one-off jobs too — many of our trade customers price up small refurbs straight on the site.

Trade pricing & bulk orders

Four routes into the made-to-measure range

Pick the closest match to your job. All four routes use the same configurator — different starting points.

How to measure for a made-to-measure unit

Two numbers — width and height — measured to the rebate. The configurator handles everything else.

The 4-step measure

  1. Open the window or door. Measure the visible glass width at the top, middle, and bottom — take the smallest number.
  2. Measure the visible glass height at the left, middle, and right — take the smallest number.
  3. Add 6mm to each dimension. That's your sealed-unit size (visible glass + 3mm tucked into each side of the rebate).
  4. Measure the overall sealed-unit thickness with vernier callipers or a ruler held edge-on. Most UPVC is 24mm or 28mm; older timber is often 20mm.

Pricing transparency on bespoke

Bespoke pricing is a function of glass area, build spec, and spacer thickness. The configurator computes the live price — no quote-form lag, no "from £X". You'll see the upgrade cost for toughened, laminated, low-E, acoustic, or solar-control coatings inline as you select them.

Volume tier discount (5%/10%/15% on 5+/20+/50+) applies to bespoke orders the same way it applies to stock. Trade accounts add Net 30 and priority production.

Made-to-measure DG — common questions

Q: What's the smallest and largest size you can do?

Minimum production size is 200×200mm (smaller panes are sometimes hand-cut on enquiry). Standard production maxes at 2400×1500mm; we can step up to 3200×1800mm on our oversized line, and to 6000×3210mm on jumbo-plate via partner manufacturers (lead time 14-21 working days). Beyond that, you'll typically be looking at a multi-pane curtain wall rather than a single sealed unit.

Q: What thickness options do you offer?

Standard DG sealed-unit thicknesses: 20mm (4-12-4), 24mm (4-16-4), and 28mm (4-20-4). 24mm is the most common modern UPVC rebate; 28mm is the modern Part L spec; 20mm is typical for older timber windows. Stepping up the outer or inner pane to 6mm or 6.4mm laminated changes overall thickness by 2-2.4mm — call out the rebate depth at the configurator and we'll flag any incompatibility.

Q: Can you do shaped or arched units made-to-measure?

Yes — but not through the configurator (rectangular sizes only there). For shapes, send a paper template, cardboard cut-out, or DWG to trade@panerelief.co.uk. Lead time 10-14 working days, priced by complexity (number of straight edges vs curves, total area). Arched, raked, radius-edged, triangular, fan-light, half-moon, and round all routinely produced.

Q: What's the lead time on a bespoke DG order?

Standard bespoke DG (annealed, low-E, argon-filled): 7-10 working days. Toughened or laminated safety glass adds 2-3 days. Shaped, arched, or oversized (any dimension >1500mm): 10-14 working days. Acoustic, solar-control, or krypton-filled spec: 10-14 working days. Emergency same-day boarding for broken glass; call the helpline.

Q: Will the bespoke unit match my existing kitemark / spec?

Yes — if you can read the kitemark stamp on the existing unit, we can match the spec exactly. The stamp is usually etched into the spacer bar between the panes, and includes the manufacturer, the BS EN 1279 part numbers, the gas-fill code, the low-E coating code, and the production batch. Photograph it (zoom in), email it through, and our team will translate the stamp into a configurator-ready spec.

Q: What if I get the measurements wrong?

Mis-measured bespoke units are remade at materials cost only (we charge the glass and labour-time delta, not the full unit price). If you send measurements or photos before ordering, our team will sanity-check the spec for free — most measurement errors are caught at this stage. The most common mistake is measuring the door panel rather than the glass rebate; second-most is forgetting the 6mm rebate-tuck allowance.

Q: Can I order a single bespoke unit, or is there a minimum?

No minimum — single bespoke units welcome, same price-per-unit as a 4-unit order. Tier discounts (5%/10%/15%) only kick in at 5+/20+/50+ units; below that the configurator price stands. Most homeowner orders are 1-4 units, so the configurator is built for single-unit pricing without padding.

Q: Why made-to-measure DG rather than upgrading to TG?

If your frame is sized for a 24mm DG unit, swapping to TG isn't possible — the rebate isn't deep enough for a 44mm or 52mm TG sandwich. Made-to-measure DG with a quality low-E coating (warm-edge spacer, argon fill, soft-coat low-E) delivers U-value 1.1-1.3 W/m²K, which hits Building Regs Part L 1.4 W/m²K comfortably. For Passive House or Future Homes Standard new-build, look at the triple-glazed windows range with deeper frames.

Q: Do you supply matching obscure or Georgian-bar glass?

Yes — both as configurator options. Obscure glass patterns supported: Pilkington Texture range (Stippolyte, Cotswold, Charcoal Sticks, Florielle, Minster, Mayflower, Taffeta, Warwick, Contora). Georgian bars: internal (between the glass panes) or external (applied), in matt black, polished lead, or brass. Rectangular grid, diamond, fan-light, and custom layouts all supported.
