How to Measure Your Glass
Accurate measurements ensure your glass unit fits perfectly. Follow these simple steps.
1
Measure the Width
Measure the glass only from left edge to right edge, not including the frame or beading. Take measurements at the top, middle, and bottom — use the smallest measurement.
2
Measure the Height
Measure the glass only from top edge to bottom edge, not including the frame or beading. Take measurements at the left, centre, and right — use the smallest measurement.
3
Add 25mm to Each
Add 25mm to the width and 25mm to the height. This allows for the part of the unit that sits hidden in the frame. The result is the sealed-unit size to enter in the configurator.
4
Check the Unit Thickness
Measure the depth of the rebate (the channel the glass sits in). This determines which unit thickness will fit. Common thicknesses: 24mm, 28mm, 32mm, 36mm.
Top Tips
Always use a metal tape measure for accuracy — fabric tapes can stretch.
Measure in millimetres (mm) for precision.
For shaped or curved glass, please contact us for a bespoke quote.
If in doubt, measure the old glass unit you're replacing.
New build? Your window manufacturer can provide the exact glass size needed.
Enter your dimensions. Measure the visible glass, then add 25 mm to the width and 25 mm to the height. Our measuring guide walks you through the four numbers you need.
Pick your glass and performance. Choose double or triple glazing, glass thickness, low-E coating, gas fill (argon vs krypton), and any acoustic, safety, or privacy options.
Review your spec and price. The configurator shows the U-value, acoustic rating, and total weight, plus a delivery estimate to your postcode.

What you'll need before you start
Order width and height (mm) — measure the visible glass edge to edge (not the frame opening), then add 25 mm to each.
Frame depth — affects whether 28 mm standard or slim cavities will fit.
Frame material — uPVC, aluminium, or timber. Determines compatible spacer types.
Glass type of the existing unit (if known) — clear, low-E, acoustic, or toughened. Helps the configurator default to a sensible like-for-like spec.
How we calculate your price
The price is built from four inputs: unit area (m²), glass and coating spec, performance options (gas fill, spacer, low-E grade), and delivery zone. There are no hidden surcharges — VAT is included, delivery is shown at checkout (free to Bristol BS postcodes, £150 + VAT elsewhere on the UK mainland), and trade discounts are 5% at 5+ units, 10% at 20+ and 15% at 50+.

Frequently asked questions
Can I configure a unit if I'm not sure of the exact size?
Pick "Quote rather than buy" at the end. We'll review the spec and ask for clarification on any measurement we'd want re-checked before manufacture.
How accurate do my measurements need to be?
Measure the visible glass, then add 25 mm to the width and 25 mm to the height. Units are made to the sizes you give us; if a size is wrong, we remake the unit and you pay the same price again. Our measuring guide covers how to take a reliable measurement.
What's the difference between a quote and an order?
An order is paid for and goes into manufacture. A quote is free, holds the price for 30 days, and lets you confirm the spec by phone or email before paying.
Do you supply trade and self-build customers?
Yes. Trade accounts get volume discounts of 5% at 5+ units, 10% at 20+ and 15% at 50+. We don't offer 30-day credit terms. Apply for a trade account.
What if my window has an unusual shape (arched, triangular, shaped)?
Use the configurator for rectangular units. For shaped glass, send dimensions and a sketch via the contact form — we make it to your template.
How long does the gas fill last?
Per BS EN 1279-3, leak rate is capped at 1% per year. A well-built unit typically retains 80–85% of its argon or krypton fill at the 20-year mark. Misted units (where the perimeter seal has failed) lose fill rapidly and need replacing.
